Interesting web site

Last night, my s came home and mentioned this new web site his gc had told him about.

[College Search - CollegeWeekLive, the Virtual College Fair](http://collegeweeklive.com/)

essentially it is a virtual college fair. you create an account (for free) login and can have access to a myriad of colleges. The reason he told my son about it was that the site also offers live video chat sessions with actual students not affiliated with admissions departments at various schools.

there is a schedule of live chat’s for many schools. last night FSU had one at 8:30pm. We logged in and it was very interesting. You see the student via dtreaming video and can ask questions in real time and they try to answer them. This particular FSU student was terrific. She is in graduate school now (at FSU), but just finished up her undergraduate degree from there as well.

My son enjoyed it and kept typing questions in. not sure whuch schools are doing it tonite, but it is an interesting format to check out.

Here is a summary of some of her main points:

great variety of academic programs at FSU

Tons of activities for studebts

tremendous school spirit

Good professors

Reasonablty small class sizes, especially upper level courses (i was surprised about this one)

A+ looking girls

great social scene

She stringly recommended living on campus, especially the first year.

food, good… not great

strong greek presence, but not overwhelming

good mixture of politically conservative and liberal students.

Based on my son's experience so far, I think she is pretty accurate.

I would add that there are also many very in shape guys at FSU as well.

Some upper division class sections are still quite large, it depends, but that does not seem to bother him at all. For example Basic Marketing has sections between 40 and 500 students. He has had both great and mediocre professors. There are a wide variety of majors to choose from at FSU.

Yes the people are really friendly and the social life, activities and school spirit are great.

The campus is really pretty and the weather is ideal.

The first year it is best to live on campus and take a small meal plan just so you get involved and meet people and can eat with them (even though you get tired of the cafeteria quickly). After that, many students move to nearby off-campus housing and don't take a meal plan.

nyd this website is cool thx for post..

cybermom does your son have friends who moved into greek housing.

His roommate from last year joined a frat and moved into Heritage Grove.
My son lives in Heritage Grove this year but does not belong to a fraternity.
He has friends who moved to apartments, some in houses and some still live in Ragans or Landis.
Next year he is talking about renting a house with three friends.
