intern& research,, but low gpa!!

<p>hi all! i am currently a freshman at emory, and plan to do a research at institutions that require recommendations and gpa. My first semester gpa,,, was awful (below 3.0 ) and i am not really close to any of my professors. </p>

<p>Do summer programs at other universities take care into gpa a lot of considerations? Interns and research? Any datas in SMDEP and summer internship at NIH?? </p>

<p>well.. i mean, do 1st semester grade count a lot when you apply? and i was also wondering if you don't get admitted to summer courses at other institutions ..</p>
