Internal Transfer and Losing Scholarships?

I was recently accepted into NYU Steinhradt for Studio Art. I've been on the fence as to whether I want to do art or art history but I applied to studio art because I heard it's hard to transfer into the art program (if I decided later on in college that it was art I wanted to pursue). Anyways, I got $30,000 in scholarship from Steinhardt. However, lets say when I am a Sophomore I decide that I want to actually do art history, if I were to transfer to CAS, would I not be able to get any scholarship? How does it work exactly for internal transfer? I know you have to reapply for scholarship each year but as long as your grades are pretty good you should continue getting the same amount.

Hmm,

Scholarships may come from school specific sources, so I am not sure you will be guaranteed your very nice scholarship at NYU CAS. By the way, your Steinhardt scholarship may be determined by both merit and need. So not only certain academic standards have to be maintained, but the financial situation should not be very different when you re-apply each year, if you hope to continue the same amount of award.

However, this issue of whether or not you get to keep your exact scholarship money when you do an internal transfer is something I recommend you to discuss directly with the financial aid office.

i’m going to call monday, i still have to get my official letter in the mail hopefully it’ll give more information.

Hello, I happen to be in the same situation with Steinhardt scholarship and internal transfer interests. Have you found out anything about this?
