Internal transfer before freshman year

Hi everyone,

I’m going to be a freshman this fall 2019, and want to switch from Dornsife to SCA. Does anyone have experiences with internal transfer before freshman year? I saw internal transfer requirements on the SCA page (for Media arts + practice) but it has many requirements such as 3 recommendations, which I don’t have and won’t have until at least after freshman year. Help appreciated, thanks! If anything, I might just shoot an email to the advisor of SCA and hope for the best.

Each SCA program has its own requirements. In 2017, my daughter was only admitted Undeclared but applied for an internal transfer to SCA for CAMS during July, even before the term started. She was admitted to the program starting in her freshman spring term in October. That sort of a scenario is likely the best you can hope for… should MAP have the same sort of timetable/requirements. My daughter’s recommendations were the same as when she applied to SCA initially and all involved pre-USC recommendations. Good luck…

Thank you for the response! How did she send the recommendations to them in the summer then? Did she get to see the letters from the teachers, or did she just asked admissions to send them?

You’re welcome. She had applied to SCA originally, and they had required three letters of recommendation. She simply had them all resubmitted by those recommenders.
