So I grew up in the US and im currently under a visa.
So wherever I asked about how my international status would affect my admission, every college told me that both internationals and citizens are both considered equally during admissions (Im talking about need blind admissions).
Is this true? Because wherever I look, most colleges have around 10% internationals.
If in fact you will be considered an international candidate, your odds of getting into the selective need blind colleges ARE lower than domestic candidates’.
International students’ chances are much, much better when they apply to less selective schools as full-pay students (or at least as students who only need some FA.)
To maximize your chance apply early decision with above average stats. Sadly we have to be better than the domestic students here for acceptance.
I’m confused, what did you mean by " I grew up in the US and im currently under a visa." are you an international?
There are plenty of international kids who came as small business dependent visa holders. My neighbor’s kids are like that. They have lived since 3rd grade and still are not eligible for GC application. What a bummer
Actually in the UK the acceptance rates of a number of top colleges are basically the same as as the overall ones. A Yale rep told us that almost 500 UK students applied and around 30 were accepted
