International Admit Stats - How many in each country?

Nice Idea but such a project requires a lot of work and effort, time that as students we may not have.

In fact something sort of like this already exists in the form of MIT's Open Course Ware (OCW) site, <a href="http://ocw.mit.edu/index.html%5B/url%5D">http://ocw.mit.edu/index.html</a>. The discussion forum portion however is at the moment limited <a href="http://mit.ols.usu.edu/courses/%5B/url%5D">http://mit.ols.usu.edu/courses/</a></p>

anyway

i'd just want to congratulate for the last time, all the international admitees.... :) you guys are truly incredible.

Hi everybody!
I would REALLY like to see the list of international students who got in. I heard that there was some sort of DHL list but that it has been erased.
Don't tell me that nobody saved it in their files :)
Plz let me know

Ognjen, class of 2009

From South Korea, 6 students were admitted to MIT :)

some MIT freshmen told me 4 Thai who applied from Thailand and 3 Thai scholars who are now in American prep schools got in. Still 2-3 people got waitlisted.

oh ... the 6 from Korea are those who studied in Korea. So I don't know how many koreans who are studying in America are accepted.

but somebody told me that there was a list of international students who got in. It would certainly be nice to see that, wouldn't it? :)

sure it would be nice.. but... where can I find it?

well, you know that MIT uses DHL when posting letters for admited int. students. Well on your copy of DHL receipt or whatever you can see some numbers and eventually some guys went to DHL website and got the list with all DHL packages that were sent from MIT zip code on 11th of March. It is easy to realize that most of the packages were meant for int students, and there were of course names of the receipients. This is not a joke! My friend saw my name on that list on 13th of March, a day before I received my application. Unfortunately he didn't save it and the thread with that list was erased.

so miniminimanimo, you're from South Korea?

yup :)
and yoU?

No, no... I am from Serbia (small country in South-Eastern Europe) but I went to Pohang in July 2005. It was a Physics Olympiad there and I got silver :) I liked Korea very much, besides the fact that it was so HUMID. So humid that my clothes got wet during the night because the air-conditioner was broken.

hahaha :) Great to meet who had visited Korea.

It's really humid in Summer, but except when it's summer it's great

So you are in the class of 2009?

Yes I was offered admission, but I am still waiting to hear from Fin Aid office and from other colleges as well.
What about u?

Me too I was also offered admission and waiting for other colleges :).

So you are one of those... OLYMPIADs :)

miniminimanimo...i heard that five students from Korea got accepted to MIT. Could you send me the names of people (or at least schools) who got in? Thanks.

I do not have the names of them :)
are you admitted too?

did India get the least number of acceptees in the whole world?????

hey guys,
this is my first time using cc. still getting used to everything. not sure if i'm posting in the right area but shrugs oh well.
anyways, congratulations to everyone international who got in. you guys truly deserve it.
i love internationals, for some weird reason. =)
hope to see some of you on campus next year.

Kyrgyzstan is in chaos now. I dont know if the Kyrgyz kid would be able to attend MIT. Can anyone confirm that?
