International and Philosophical Breadth requirements?

Yeah, those are kind of annoying especially when you're a science major. Any recommendations for those 2? I can't seem to find any classes. The very few that I can find are full and the ones that are easy on the grad (p/pf classes) are DEFINITELY full...

First off, look here[/url</a>] and here[/url</a>] for lists of courses that fulfill that breadth requirement (assuming that you are in L&S).

Of those classes, I've heard good things about Philosophy 6 with Dreyfus. I'm planning to take that class and there are plenty of spots open right now. As for international studies, it's your call.

Oh, how troubling. I went through that list for hours yesterday and couldn't find a thing. I mean do they seriously expect me to learn arabic, korean, or chinese for international studies? Half of that list for international studies consists of classes of that nature.

I looked through some of those classes. Here are ones I found that meet the international studies requirement and still have room:

Political Science 2: Introduction to Comparative Politics
Political Science 5: Introduction to International Relations
Near Eastern Studies 10: Introduction to the Near East
Geography 10: World Regions, Peoples, and States
Near Eastern Studies 26: Introduction to Central Asia
Political Economy of Industrialized Societies 101: Contemporary Theories of Political Economy
International and Area Studies 105: The Ethics, Methods, and Pragmatics of Global Practice
City and Regional Planning 115: Urbanization in Developing Countries
Sociology 122A: Comparative Perspectives on Inequality
Anthropology 147B: Sexuality, Culture, and Colonialism
Environmental Economics and Policy 151: Economic Development

Don't tell me that all of these would be a horrible experience for you.

geography 10 w/ prof sayre was a good class. Interesting and easy for a a bio major like me.

I was just thinking that... except my schedule doesn't fit. You know how it works. You find a good class and its full. You spend hours finally find another good class your schedule don't fit. Then settle for a class that is just okay...

ESC UC Berkeley Scheduler - About comes in handy for schedule planning

I'm a science major too and will probably take international studies or anthropology. I think it's fun that we are required to take different classes. Although I like science, I think It would be boring If all I took was biology and chemistry for four years.

ethancc2 thanks. I think i've decided to just go hardcore and take an actual class instead of a seminar type course.
