International Boarding School Student craving for some advice

Hello! I am a Korean international student who goes to boarding school in the states.

My school is not one of the top 10 schools, but it’s about top 20(I think).

I am currently a sophomore, and I am taking three AP courses, BC Calculus, AP Physics 1&2, and AP Chemistry.

I am also taking Regular English and Chinese 2 at my current school.

As a freshman, I went to international school in Korea, and there I took English regular, Biology, PE, Chinese 1, Precalculus,

World History, and Speech and Debate.

For all my classes freshman year, I got 4.0/4.0.

For the classes I am taking right now, I have all As.

For next year, I will be taking AP Biology, AP Physics C, Multivariable Calculus(honors), AP Literature, APUSH.

I am planning on registering for BS/MD programs in the states and ivy league schools, and I am wondering what EC

activities will help me get accepted to these kinds of programs and schools.

I do team sports all three seasons, but I am not that athletic.

I also got 800 in both Math 2C and Chemistry for SAT subject test last summer.

My other question is, what will be the ideal SAT/ACT score that will help me out?

I know that getting the perfect score will be the best, but I am just wondering what would be the borderline score.

I CRAVE for help and am willing to admit any advice that comes up to me.

Please help me out!!

I frequently see this type of question and my standard answer is to do what interests you. However, since you have indicated interest in the medical field, do something that is relevant to that, such as volunteering at a hospital or something.

Well, ideally, you’d like to have your SAT/ACT score as high as you can get it to. Don’t take these tests too many times though. You end up barely increasing your score and wasting money.

Thank you so much!! I was thinking about working over the summer that I am interested in, too.

@idkhelpmeout, In case you haven’t seen them, there are posts from previous successful BS/MD students and on-going discussion, feel free to take a look.

You have to check with any and all bsmd programs of your interest if they accept international students.

Actually I am getting a green card soon so should I ask the programs if they accept green card?

Pretty sure all programs accept green cards but might as well double check

What does it mean “pretty soon”? Have you/your parents been to the interview yet? Due to the Pres. Trump policy, there is an increased delay of issuing green card. Unless you have a card in hand, do not count on it.

If you don’t have a green card by the time you apply your chances are shot for BSMD… I’m lucky to have got a green card my junior year, as approx. 75% of programs explicitly state they only take in US citizens or permanent residents.
