I am going to major in Business Administration with a focus in International Business. I would like to pair this or dual major with a foreign language. I have experience in German, as I have taken 3 years in high school, but would it be smart to get a dual major in International Business and German or should I start over and learn French or Spanish? Also, I have an interest and would like to specialize in Europe.
Having a major in a language won’t really help in your recruitment prospects. At the end of the day they will just care whether or not you can speak proficiently which is usually denoted in your skills section of your resume. I would definitely learn Spanish since it is one of the most commonly spoken languages globally. It will allow you to work and converse with the majority of Central and South America, and obviously Spain. While you want to specialize in Europe, you obviously know as a prospective International Business major that the global markets are connected more than ever before so having a skill set that is applicable to the largest audience would be the most helpful.
