International First Year College Student Hoping to Study in the US

Hey guys!!! I'm a first year high school student studying in the Philippines. I really want to go and study in the USA. Should I apply as a freshman student or as a transfer? I want to apply as a freshman since I heard it has a greater chance of getting accepted. I'm willing to drop the units I've earned studying here. I'm studying in the University of the Philippines btw.

I also took the SAT once before and I scored 1980. Should I retake the SAT???

Please help and advice me what to do...Thanks!!! :)

If you are already studying at a university, you will probably need to apply as a transfer. Each college and university in the US sets its own policy about that so you need to ask each of them separately, and use the correct application for each one.

There is almost no financial aid for international students, so if your family cannot pay the full cost of your education in the US, you probably want to finish your education in your own country.

If you have never taken university courses, you would apply as a Freshman. You first mention you are in first year high school, but later mention you are studying in University, so it is unclear.

If you are taking any university courses that you receive credit for (backed up with an official transcript), you would apply as a Transfer student.

Not necessarily, the definition of who is a transfer student varies with the school. You need to go to the college websites and see whether you need to apply as a fr or transfer applicant.
