International IB

Hi all,

Im an international student and looking for an entrance opportunity into Bulge-bracket IB (planning to stay long term, none of this "a few years and then Private Equity/Venture Capital"). My plan:

UofToronto/Columbia/UWaterloo/Cornell/Stanford - B.S. Industrial Engineering (Economics&Finance focus)

M.S. Financial Engineering (Cornell or Columbia)

MBA (Wharton/Harvard/Yale)

How much of a chance do I stand?

Do you think that if I applied at an international office (london, Riyadh, Jakarta, etc.) {knowing the local language, spoken and written fluently; Arabic, English, Bahasa Indonesia} I have a higher chance of being accepted into bulge bracket firms (and then transfer offices to NYC HQ in a year or 2)?

How much does attending a canadian university for undergrad affect my chances of landing on Wall street?

Thanks

BUMP! I need your opinions!

If you go to a Canadian university, the chances to go directly to US IB is difficult. You will most likely have to transfer from a Canadian IB to a American IB.

Its most likely for undergrad. For my Grad school plans I am praying for a US top 3, maybe a joint MBA/MFE like the one at Columbia.

Isnt where you go in grad school that matters (especially when there is Financial engineering tied into it)?

A Canadian school would give you the stigma that would stick with you. If you go to Stanford, Columbia, or Cornell for undergrad and do well, you may not even need the MBA to have a good career if you are smart. M.S. Financial Engineering is pointless.
