bump. need some more colleges!!!1

I have three friends from Nepal here at St. John’s, all of whom are receiving adequate institutional grant money.

St . Johns will be a TOUGH curriculum for me. Are you in Santa Fe? Is one of them Manish?

If your family only earns 10k per year, then your only hope are schools like the ivies that give full need to int’ls.

Regular colleges are not going to give you a full ride, which is what you’d essentially need since your family income is so low.

It’s not going to do you any good for people to recommend schools that might give you $10k or $15k per year when that means your family would have to pay $30k per year plus travel.

yeah so true. that means i have a TOUGH chance of pursuing my studies in the US. :(

Clearly you are a bright, motivated student and a worthy applicant in an unfair application world. I would suggest that you lower your expectations for pursuing an undergraduate degree in the U.S. and instead settle on one that offers you enough money, despite its academic reputation. Then, you will have an environment in which you will most likely succeed, and you will be able to set yourself up nicely for graduate school, which matters more in the long run, anyway.

Best of luck.

thanks wittwonka for the inspiring ( not so inspiring if i want to get into the US, yet…) words.

I really wanna study in the US. conditions in Nepal aren’t good right now. The political turmoil’s giving us all a HARD time. SO i really wanna complete my education as soon as possible in the US.
