i’m confident that i could do perfectly fine with the support of my former schools and by doing well at the caribbean school.

this sounds like gibberish or wishful thinking. How will your former schools (an ivy and top 5) support your situation after you go to a Caribbean med school?

Your parents suddenly withdrew financial support over some seemingly-minor issue. If you do get them “on board” with paying for med school, what will happen if they withdraw support again at some point?

Are you saying that this med school has told you that you can get fed student loans if you simultaneously enroll in some online grad school program WHILE you’re in med school in the Caribbean? And, the school will do what? Will they accept payment for one program (grad program) as also payment for the med school? That doesn’t sound right.

This is poppycock. If you enroll in an online masters program, you can only get federal loan for the cost of attendance for THAT program…which you will be exoected to pay in full. You won’t be able to get additional federal loans in excess of the cost for that online program…to use to pay for any other school…or anything else for, that matter.

I wonder if this med school is playing fast and loose with all of this. Likely, most of their students don’t have the means to be full-payers, and the US fed gov’t won’t lend money for it, so they created this kind of shadow grad program that the med student co-enrolls in, and the fed gov’t does recognize that program. So, the student is borrowing full COA for that (likely very pricey) grad program - which includes room, board, etc - and then the med school charges little or nothing because they’re getting their money thru that pricey grad school tuition. Since the grad classes are online, the student can complete them while at their med school.

@gradmedmoney How much is the tuition for that online grad school?
