How is IR major in Columbia?

Thank you!

There is no undergraduate IR major. However, you can take excellent classes in IR in the Political Science department, negotiate your way into the graduate School of International and Public Affairs, see numerous world leaders speak (and sometimes have the opportunity to speak with them) every year, and even earn a joint BA/Master of International Relations (MIA) in five years.

Columbia has an absolutely fantastic international relations faculty -- both in SIPA (which you could take as a 5 year joint bachelors-masters) and in the political science department.

Of course, be warned: that doesn't speak to faculty accessibility.

Yeah, I think the faculty in the history department are far more accessible than those in PoliSci. Of course, that's to be expected when the professor for Japanese Politics is actually one of the Japanese Prime Minister's closest advisors and is continually jetting between Tokyo and your class.
