As an international relations major I'm really interested in becoming fluent in more than one language. My major requires me to be proficient in one language anyway. I am now a sophomore and I've signed up for French and Russian this semester along with Economics, World Politics, and Geography. Everything is at the 100 level. Has anyone else taken two languages at once? Will this course load be too big to handle?

I can’t say I’ve done it in college yet, though I intend to. I have studied up to 3 languages at a time independently studied, and I took Mandarin Chinese and Latin at the same time in high school. Typically European students take more than one language at a time. I’ve found if the languages are similar I get words mixed up sometimes. French and Russian are so different, however, you won’t have that problem. Languages are extremely useful in both ones career and personal life, and I applaud you for this!
