I’m an International Student Applied to Stanford without Financial Aid is it Possible to change that. My Financial circumstances just changed because of some personal family issues, and now I may require some Financial Aid from Stanford. Is it too late now, is something possible? What else can I do?
Have you been accepted by Stanford? If so, contact the school and explain the situation.
They do say that unless you apply for aid at the time of applying you can’t apply for any because it is part of the decision process for internationals…however, there’s no harm whatsoever in contacting them and trying. As decisions haven’t yet been released, I’d contact them as soon as possible and explain.
The challenge that I see is that you missed the financial aid deadline, which was 2/15. You submitted your application based on the premise that you have enough to pay for the full 4 years. As you know, for international students, the ability to pay is part of Stanford’s admissions process. If Stanford admits you one of the factors is that you put down that you will be full pay. In hind sight you may have been better off applying for aid and having Stanford say that you are not eligible this year.
All you can do is call and ask, but don’t get your hopes up
If you were able to defer your enrollment at Stanford for a year, would you be able to work/come up with the money to attend the following year and years forward? That said, I don’t know if Stanford defers, but worth asking
If you can defer, will your parents situation change in a year?
There’s no way the student could work/save to earn S cost
Stanford’s policy is very clear regarding applicants in your situation. The following is from their website:
“International students who do not request consideration for financial aid at the time they apply for admission will not be eligible to apply for aid at Stanford throughout their undergraduate years.”
That really says it all. You are ineligible to receive financial aid at any point.
Stanford policy is clear for international students as noted above. You got accepted…with the idea you would be full pay.
