International student looking for an Acting MFA :/

Hi everyone, here comes another worrying mother who is desperately looking for some suggestions - This time it’s the English (at least for accent:/) problem. My D is from Hong Kong, she has been living there all her life without attending an international school (which means English is not her 1st language), but would really like to finish her Acting MFA in the States. Don’t know if there’s any international student here on the forum, but I would really like to ask and see what school do you have on your safety list. NYU/Yale is not the type of school that we are currently looking for, but definitely something with a higher acceptance rate. Any suggestions will be appreciated

CalArts has quite a few international students. When you say she wants to finish her acting MFA is she already in a program in Hong Kong? Most acting MFA programs in the US are very highly competitive – I don’t know if I would consider any of them safeties.

@astute12 is right, CalArts MFA and BFA have MANY international students (including myself!). I know two girls from Hong Kong in the BFA program.
Her accent will not be an issue, as he will have speech and possibly accent reduction classes.

@astute12 Thanks for the suggestion! Well she is in a one year MA acting program right now, which might allows her to transfer some of the credits… But we definitely don’t mind starting all over

@milkshakespeare Thanks for the information… Are the two girls that you mentioned from a performing program? & I didnt’ know anything about the speech classes before… That sounds awesome!

@LoyalFish Yes, both are in the Acting program
