What about a gpa of all 3 HS year of 14,6 (around 16,5 in 9th grade, around 14,5 in 10th grade and 13,4 in 11th grade, sorry i don’t really remember), a 17.23 at Brevet (Mention Tres Bien - 29,5/40 french - 40/40 maths - 33/40 HistoryGeography - 34/40 HistoireDesArts), SAT score of 2050 (650 CR), Maths1 680, with no toefl score (not needed for the schools that im applying into)?

Im in filiere S (scientifique like injunioryear) but im actually quite bad at Biology and Physics-Chemistry. I have ok grade in french and good grade in English. Im pretty bad at History-Geography.

But here’s the thing, our BAC results just arrived and i’ve got:
15 in french writing
16 in french oral
14 in HG
16 in TPE

which are not that bad after all.

For extracurricular stuffs:
-I can play the piano (i’ve finished a 7 year degree in the Conservatory of Hanoi-Vietnam 3 years ago, and my main grade for piano performance are all above 9, mostly around 9,7) and a few more instruments (like guitar, cajon)
-I’m in my school music club (I play various instruments and along with my friend’s dad who lead our group, I arrange the songs that we play)
-I’ve volunteered at World Vision Vietnam (i’ve been translating letters exchanged between the kids and their sponsors)
-I was a member of COTA (it’s our school group which help organize our end-of-the-year talent show) and I basically controlled the rent instruments and stage materials as well as knowing what each act needs for the performance.

Beside all of that i’ve participated in the 48 Hour Film Project with some friends (we wrote the script together and i made our original score): we got nothing for the second one though but maybe that can be counted that an experience?

@Skiel: math 1 680 will be a BIG problem, especially since you’re a S-bac student.
You MUST take math 2, physics or chemistry, and one more subject, trying to reach 700+.

Your bac scores are good but your moyennes probably mean Top 20 national universities and national liberal arts colleges are (high) reaches.

Will you need financial aid? How much can your family afford?

I don’t think that i’m going to apply for financial aid. I’d rather reach for a scolarship but it seems tough.

I think that I’ll take a maths 2 and a world history this november (i couldnt take maths 2 before because school didnt teach me enough materials for that test, it was 100% sure that i wouldnt get a good score let alone a 700)

@Skiel:
I’m afraid you confused Math2 and AP Calc. Even an L student can do Math 2 (sure, not very well, but it’s within what L students have learned). S students should definitively be able to do Math2 easily.
Math2 = good level Seconde math…
AP Calc however is 1S/TS level

If you’re not applying for financial aid, do your parents have $50,000 per year for your education (that’s the minimum cost you’ll need to prove you have to get your I-20)? Scholarships are part of financial aid. Some financial aid is need-based (based on how much money your parents make) and some financial aid is merit-based (based on your test score and what extraordinary things you’ve done). Scholarships can come from either source.
So far, I’d say you need to diversify your college list. It’s almost all reaches.
BTW, your safety (UIUC) is strange unless you’ve established residency in that state?
This November, you can plan to take Physics, Math2, and World History, but remember to buy prep books and work from these in order to master the format as well as the specific content.

and @MYOS1634 nop i dont think the 2nde nivo would be enough for Maths 2 because I’ve checked that out, and there’s " ln " in it. We didnt learned that in 1ere (this year) let alone 2nde and there are other stuffs that we’ve just recently learned in 1ere so idk, were you in a french system?

Hi Skiel, not sure what you mean by “ln” but here’s the list of topics covered:
Approximately 10-14% of questions focus on numbers and operations, 48-52% focus on algebra and functions, 28-32% focus on geometry (coordinate, three-dimensional, and trigonometric geometry are covered; plane geometry is not directly tested), and 6-10% focus on data analysis, statistics and probability.
The program covers what would be expected to be mastered by a good future 1S student at the end of Seconde. (Yes I know the French curriculum well). To get an average score you only need to have been around 9-10 in seconde.
HOWEVER there may be one or two notions which you haven’t covered and which you may not cover ever. That’s the case for most students taking the test, that’s why you can make a couple errors and still get an 800 on it.
I need to think for matches for you. What do you want to major in?

Oh alright I feel better now thanks :D! and btw “ln” as in ln(x) and log(x).
Although Im quite bad at physiques-chimie, I’m alright (sometimes good even) in biology so I’m thinking maybe Psychology (even though we can only get a real job in this field with a Phd) but yeah, maybe a branch of psychology that is more related to human behaviors, something like that.
