International studies students who have taken this forum (SocSci 183A), was it difficult?
I'm actually pretty afraid to take it. I'm probably going to have to enroll in it this coming fall quarter.
Could you tell me about your experience in it?</p>

It all depends on who your TA is. Every week you listen to a guest lecture and write a short paper based on the prompt given for that week. It’s an easy A if your TA is an easy grader, but it could be a pain if your TA marks you down for silly things. I have taken this class twice as part of the IS requirement and have experienced both a good and bad TA for each quarter. The class is not difficult, but it is tedious because of those short papers. There’s no quiz or final and there will be some weeks where you dont have a guest lecture. Also, the professor who teaches it varies each year, but the premise is the same.
