International Studies vs. Political Science & Near Eastern Studies

Hello,

What is more marketable?:

B.A. International Studies or B.A. Political Science & B.A. Near Eastern Studies

I will minor in Portuguese as well, for both options.

I am open to pursuing a variety of careers (government, NGOs, corporations, etc.) after I graduate, but regardless of the career path I pursue, I have a desire to live abroad and/or do a fair amount of international travel.

Thanks!

ploisci IMO. I just think it opens up more doors.

I’m assuming that if you did the PoliSci/NE Studies option, you would have to study a Middle Eastern language (e.g., Arabic, Persian, Turkish, etc.). I was wondering why you would then minor in Portuguese? Why not take additional courses in your chosen Middle Eastern language or study abroad in the Middle East, a second Middle Eastern language, and/or study a European language that is relevant to the Middle East *e.g., French or Russian). These language choices make more sense than Portuguese.

I would have to agree that polisci would be a wiser choice. If you’re going to have a strong ability to speak a foreign language then I don’t think a degree in international relations is as necessary. I went through a similar situation when I changed my International Business with Foreign Language minor to Business Management with a Foreign Language minor.
