Hi,
I am curious to know do they call international students for
1.paid interview?
2.Telephone interview?

Does that happen after the domestic students are interviwed or at the same time?

What is the typical acceptance rate of those interviwed
1.Domestic
2.International

How soon they send acceptance after the interview for both type of applicants?

Generally paid interviews are elaborate while telephone interviews for internationals are very limited, how does that affect the esult?
Thank you for your comments.

Well I applied to colleges that I could easily travel to (I did my undergrad in the US as well). International Applicants have to do a little better than Americans because most of the time there's either no interview or just a phone interview if they're outside the US.

I second Motso's curiousity in terms of the acceptance rates for Internationals (in fact, I was about to start a similar thread). I know Mollie said that Interview Weekends for domestic students are often associated with a 60-70 per cent acceptance rate. How much lower is it for Internationals via Phone? How serious are they about us if they are calling us (since I'm very well aware that my interview with them is going to cost $10 maximum, while an interview weekend for a domestic or student living near the States is more of a financial outlay on their part and is likely to mean that they narrow the field more?)

I am an international, graduate-student-to-be from the South East Asia (though I'm ethnically East Asian). I was invited to one prospectives weekend at a major university in the East coast which was also an interview session. Though they could not pay for the full cost of my airfare, they will still be compensating me for some of my expenses. As far as I know, I was the only international accepted to my program (it's in the humanities) out of the three of us who attended the weekend. Two of the finalists did not turn up (I assumed they either turned down the offer or decided on a phone interview, and I have no idea if they're domestic or international students). So far, I was the only international student accepted and all the other acceptances were also students who came for the interview weekend.

Another friend did a paid phone interview but not sure if she's been accepted.

I'm really worried about the whole interviewing thing as most schools' interviewing period falls exactly into my finals-preparation-time. As I'm doing my undergrad in the UK, I'll be examined on all papers I did during the three years at the same time (as in within 2 weeks). We don't have midterms or anything like that so it's the ONLY thing determining my degree classification...

Does anyone know whether most schools interview master's applicants? Well, guess it's down to the individual school and program again...
