I can confirm that engineering interns working for the Big Oil companies (Exxon, Shell, Chevron, etc.) will do around $35/hour + some hefty relocation benefits. With that said, $25/hr is very good for internship pay when most EE internships are going to pay about $20/hr. Congrats on your internship.

Boeing is paying just under $20/hour with relocation assistance.

SO there is indeed a possibility for a rising sophomore to get a paid internship? How long does it usually take in weeks ? and what are the tasks(as one at that level still haven’t had any NEG courses)
Are the pay rates for Electrical engineering the same as mechanical ?

You can always try contacting local companies instead of multinational conglomerates to see if they have any sort of internship programs, or if they’ll hire you for a summer. After my freshman year I didn’t really have anything happening, so I contacted a moderate sized business that sponsored a small scholarship for graduating students from my HS (it was something like $500), and they were happy to have me work in their product development labs for the summer (I was mostly doing chemistry styled work as a materials engineering undergrad). It turns out that’s actually they way they try to recruit new talent instead of going through a whole bunch of hiring interviews.

I make $15/hour for working with an education policy group in DC, and I was making more than most in my intern housing, so $25/hour is awesome (especially considering a lot of interns are unpaid!)

Dang, I’m a rising senior ME, and I’m only making $15/hr! Plus a little housing assistance, but still. $25/hr is really good!

last summer (between grad school years) I made $20/hr. Spring before that I was unpaid. Second year of grad school I made $23/hr.

my degrees are International Security ish things.

I only get $10/hr, but then again it is a small startup. I have a friend who’s also a rising sophomore but they get $25/hr from Expediters International.

DO ME engineers get paid as much as EE ?

^ Not sure if ■■■■■ or not.

I am getting paid $1,000/week, and they expect me to work 40-45 hours a week. I finished my freshman yeas as a CS major, and working as a software development intern.

I’m pretty happy about it; but after seeing some of these mentioned wages, I’m not sure what to say, haha.

Wow, I didn’t realize internship wages could be so high lol. I get paid 500 a week at my REU, which comes to $12.50 and hour, plus housing and travel allowance. And I was pretty excited for that, I thought it was a sweet deal! Lol. Although most of these wages are more than what I make, I’m still pretty thankful for mine, especially since I’m just a rising sophomore.

Congrats to you all!

I get around $40 an hour with exceptional benefits and relocation package (~5k). Oil&Gas of course.

I make $4,500 total for 10 weeks of 9:30-4:30 M-Th and 10-2 F. I work for a non-profit.

Always jealous of the packages you oil guys get. Boatloads of money and 9/80s? just awesome!

first internship working at a local IT company, $13/hour working a little under 40 hours a week.

wish i made $25/hr as an intern

i have 21.5/hr, with 10~12 hrs overtime per week, in aviation industry

irrelevant, be thankful you have an internship. but to answer you’re question, 25 is very well paid

$10/hr for programming at a very small company :(

I’m still pretty happy, since I’m only a rising freshman. Nobody cares when I come to work either. :)

I am in high school and make 15$ an hour at a consulting company.

I am grad student and i’m making $23/hour
