Internships/Research

Hi, I'm going to be a junior this september. I live in NJ and I have yet to find something that I can use to embellish my college application. I have an ardent interest in the field of science and I hope to pursue a career related to it. I've heard that doing internships and research can help me get into a good college. In addition, research can help me realize what type of science career is best for me in the future. I now will take the time to humbly request you to help me and offer a few tips on where i can do this. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help. Remember, I'm from Joisy.

Analyze some skill that you're unique of and can do in lab, then choose area of your interest in pages of nearby universities and mail professors. But you have to think of how you can help them and pose this helpful skills. For example, I wrote about my C++ programming skill -- got one successfull (God, help me!) out of one sent.

Good luck!

PS. What field? :)

I actually designed my own research project and did it in my school's lab facilities with a teacher as my advisor. It was really hard, and I wasn't all that successful, but it will help me out big time on my college aps (and I learn so much; I'm doing it again next year). Not only that, my advisor will write me an excellent recommendation; so this project will help me out in two ways. If your school has the capabilities for this, and if you can find an interested teacher as your advisor, you'll be in great shape.

If not, the other guy gave good advice. Email professors who are working on things that interest you in your area. Good luck. This is a great opportunity for you.
