Just wondering,... would it be weird to take notes during your interview? or can you like read off of your notes? Because I have a Carnegie Mellon interview coming up and I have to write an essay on it so taking notes would definitely help me remember things. Thanks!

I would advise against taking notes. That will just be awkward and I think it will prevent you from engaging with the interviewer. I think it would be off putting.

@stripedpanda: Yes, for many years I have interviewed for Duke, no one has ever done so, and I would find it both disruptive and extremely odd (specifically, the applicant and the interviewer are having a bilateral conversation, without any preconceived questions . . . do you usually take notes when you’re having a friendly, informal discussion?).
