My friends and I already had our interviews, but good luck abog, maybe you will be contacted as well?!?!?

how were you contacted? phone, email? i live in NJ and have not been contacted yet!

I want an interview =(

most of my interviews, including the one for columbia, were arranged by phone

REALLY!!! i got mine a few days after i mailed the envelope.... what are your scores? maybe you didn't meet requirements.
................................................................................................................P.S. Maybe it is the fact that you go to school in NJ that you haven't even been considered yet. I hear the school system over there is really horrible

rp123, let's just say I live about 20 minutes away from Manhattan, so sometimes people in central jersey might (or might not) get contacted at all...Where are you from in jersey?

"P.S. Maybe it is the fact that you go to school in NJ that you haven't even been considered yet. I hear the school system over there is really horrible"

Bogey, that is the biggest load of BS i have ever heard since Bush's speech in the debate...where in the freakin state in U.S. are you from? Because I am so CURIOUS. (and you better say alaska or hawaii).

bogey, i go to a top magnet school in NJ. also NJ boasts one of the best public schools in the US. Kids with highest AP scores come from NJ

Delfire, I am from monmouth county, 40 miles away.

"Kids with highest AP scores come from NJ"

There bogey, feed off some real stats.

"I am from monmouth county"

Whoa..all I can say to make you feel better is that don't worry about it that much, Columbia gets an insane amount of applicants that they really can't get to everybody. that's why the interview is having less weight every year, unfortunately.

It's not going to break or make you, if you really want to know more about Columbia, the best thing would be to take some time and just visit it. good luck!

My friend who goes to my high school ( in South Florida) and is also applying Columbia ED got contacted on Monday for an interview on Thursday. Why haven't I been contacted???

Phew, just came back from my interview. Very slick! Too bad it doesn't count!

i know what u mean slicker! i loveed my interview

Can someone reassure me again pls?? Don't interviews count a little more for international students??
Had mine on the 2nd..

I had my interview last night. The guy was SOOO cool. He graduated in 03 and just epitomized a Columbia kid (heh, not to make generalizations or anything - brilliant but down to earth, confident, spoke with easy eloquence, intuitive, positive...) We talked for 1 1/2 hours. heh, i was very very pleased with how it went. I hope everybody's interviewer will be as wonderful as mine if not better. best of luck guys. (o yes, i was uber nervous going in, but then told myself this kinda chance only comes along once, so what a shame it'd be to squander it b/c of my fear and insecurities of the moment. turned out great- hope yours will too.)

He told me this interview is ranked equivalent if not a little higher than teacher recs.

Also, did anybody's interviewer already have a copy of their application? mine didnt...he said it was b/c the college didnt want them to form preconceived notions about applicants (e.g. oh Person A has 1580 must be better than Person B with 1420) anyhoo...just wondering if that was a standard policy @ Columbia.

best of luck.

ah glory is going to get IN! <33

yeh intervierwers do not know about your app and its good its that way..
they are not biased in any way (in relation to your app)

anyhoo, gloryy you're so lucky!! my interviewer was a balding middle aged man that graduated in like 1976!!!!!! :(
so there wasnt MUCH connection there lol... but my interview went pretty good too. we talked for 50 mins.

mine even older! i think. and he was international - had an accent.

i'm from nj too and my interview is next week in newark. i googled my interviewer so i know what he looks like and what he does =) and he's relatively young...around 33ish

oh and nj does have one of the best public school systems in the nation, besides AP scores, just look at the psat cutoff for national merit finalists. although of course each school varies in quality.

I was just looking at the U of P board (that's my 2nd choice) and one of their interviewers said she was given a deadline of November 15th to turn in her evaluation to the school for ED. I'm wondering if Columbia's deadline is about the same and anybody applying ED who hasn't gotten an interview yet probably won't be getting one. I can only hope.........
