Hi Everyone! I am a parent, whose daughter has applied EA to Harvard. We live in the Triad area of NC. She hasn’t been contacted for an interview yet, and I am a bit ruffled by the lack of communication. My daughter on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be; she says that the interview or the lack of one, is not indicative of an offer or a rejection, and that not every applicant in the US will get a call for one.
Can I get some advice please? I have asked her to contact admissions, but she hasn’t to date (she is a fiercely independent being). Thanks so much!
Your daughter is correct. The fact is students outnumber volunteers and there’s absolutely no guarantee of an interview- - that’s why H won’t hold it against ppl who don’t have 'em.
Thanks a lot for responding.
alumni interviews mean little to nothing. don’t worry.
source: came off an alumn interview, albeit with Stanford… the interviewer did not have my GPA, stats, extracurricular or anything. she had questions she asked but it was not formal.
again, don’t worry.
While not being granted an Alumni interview doesn’t mean anything, the interview report does seem to mean something, at least for those who are interviewed. I’m sure that 80% of applicants receive stellar reports, but a few do not. Please read this from Yale, especially the reports for HANS, JEROD, RICHARD, and THERESA, where the interviewer does not recommend the candidate for admission. http://asc.yale.edu/samplereports
