I just got an email for the interview. The alumn gave me dates when she wanted to come over to my house. Is that normal? I thought I was supposed to go over to her house.

If you're not comfy with a home visit, can you ask to meet in a neutral place-- coffee shopish? Maybe your "household is busy" and you'd like a quieter venue??

Yeah, you can do a "I have little siblings/ highly allergenic pets" easy excuse.

When my mom did alumni interviews, she would have students over at our apartment. A lot of my friends have done interviews at alums' places-- in most cases, the alumni interviewer was not an exact stranger to us, it was often the parent of somebody we knew in our school. That might have made the weirdness factor lower.

I usually am the first to suggest a place to meet, usually coffee shops or bookstores, unless the interviewer wants their office
