Going for an undergrad. interview in a few weeks – any tips on what to discuss??

Thanks.

I did one at Bentley. I can offer some tips.

Bentley interviews are very casual. It is held more as a conversation as opposed to an interrogation. You will be asked a few core questions (Tell me about yourself, what is the #1 thing you would change about your hs... etc,) but aside from these questions you can take the conversation wherever you want to. I talked in detail about my community service experiences whereas my friend talked about vacationing and cruises. Bentley interviews are evaluative, but they aren't bad at all. The admissions staff is very friendly, just be real and be willing to talk.

Dress professionally. Bentley is a business school, and I would recommend business casual attire. This would mean khakis and a polo or button down for men, and a skirt or pants for women. You will feel out of place in jeans or t-shirts, however I did see kids wearing them. A tie is optional, but really not needed in my opinion.

Ask questions. I know some admissions counselors at various schools, and they hate when they ask "Do you have any questions," only to see the student sit still. Ask a question about an academic program or a facility on campus. The admissions staff will love to see that you care.

Relax. This is a fairly easy and straightforward interview. As long as you are honest and attentive i'm sure you will do great. Best of luck, if you have any questions feel free to send me a message. Doing an interview deffinately positively impacts your chance of admission, because even a mediocre interview will show that you are interested in the school and care about your future.

The day we interviewed all the kids had jeans and t-shirts very casual. In fact you were interviewed by upper level students.

Was this at an open house or something? I know upper level students frequently conduct interviews, especially during the school year, however I find it very hard to believe that a high percentage of students would be wearing t-shirts.

Yes this was during the summer........very casual

I interviewed at Bentley over the summer, and i would say it was pretty formal. Most of the guys were wearing ties, and the girls were dressed up as well. Maybe it depends on what day you go. My advice is to dress up, it will make a good statement.

yea, it was formal. maybe cheezwhiz is mistaking bentley with another school.
