Honestly, never. I went to a low-performing art school where creative excellence outweighed academic. I studied quite a bit for my community college courses I took outside of high school to make up for no AP classes. Some like 4 hours a month.

I did all homework on the weekends which basically consisted of essays.

Art, lots of printmaking and silkscreening.

The internet is definitely a staple of research to do well.

I think genetics has a lot to do with being a good student along with the home environment.

Be diverse, think outside the box, perfect your application. Do not limit yourself within the confines of your high school.
