Hello all. I’ve been scheduling (or attempting to schedule) online/off-campus interviews for the boarding schools I’m applying to. They all seem to want me to interview at 9AM on weekdays. I have school during that time. My dad gets very angry when I have to miss school. How can I do these interviews while not missing too much school? We can’t realistically go to the schools because I live in Indiana and the schools I’m applying to are in New England. My dad works 6-7 days a week. My mom’s license is suspended for a while. How can I do my interviews?
You could be excused from class and go to the school office to use a quiet room and Skype by phone. Arrange it with your teacher and the office ahead of time. A one sentence explanation to your interviewer that you are on a break from class and have to use your phone should suffice…just so they can appreciate the effort you’re putting into interviewing and show its importance to you. Most importantly, then relax and enjoy the interview.
@Altras I will talk to my school about that tomorrow! I’ll need to speak to them and my first period teacher because I start school at 9:05. I go to a school that’s urban and prison-like so I hope they’ll let me! I’ll probably ask the guidance office.
Good news! I am allowed to do my Skype interview!
Even better news- my mom is getting her license back early October (earlier than I thought) so we’re going to go tour and interview at Berkshire, Loomis Chaffee, Hotchkiss, and maybe Choate, depending on tour lengths and time etc. Do boarding schools give school excuses? I’ll have to miss 3 days of school to do this. I’m very excited!
I’m a current student at Berkshire so if you have any questions, feel free to pm me:)
Great news, CavsFan2003! Happy touring and good luck!
