into dream college but not into dream school

<p>I think it depends on the program and chances of transferring in later. In the Wharton example you use I would suggest, as others have, looking to other good schools with top business programs. Some have been suggested and there are many more out there.<br>
I have a friend whose daughter wants to be a PT. She wanted a 6 yr direct admit program where she would finish up with her graduate degree. She was accepted into two well known schools with such programs ( Marquette and St. Louis Univ ). Was not accepted into the program at Marquette but has enrolled despite having been accepted into the program at SLU. If it were my child, I would have suggested going to SLU. I like a guarantee. We’ll see what happens. But, in this case, I don’t see much of a difference in the two schools - both in atmosphere, program, employability. Perhaps Wharton vs. another business program will matter depending on the career goals. </p>
