Does anybody have any input on any of the Intro To Engineering classes? (ie. most interesting, worst professor, etc.) There are ten sections, all at the same time, so each with a different professor and wanted some older students' inputs and suggestions on which section to take.

i tried to look up each professor’s degree since they will most likey focus slightly more on their field of sudy in class than the others. i couldnt find some but being a civil engineer major i didnt really want to be in the class thats great for bio. med.

Basically, ES 140 is divided into three modules. In the first one, you learn stuff like the basics of using tools such as Excel and Matlab for statistical analysis of data; this is going to be the teacher that you select (or are given) in OASIS or however you select it. The specialty of your professor doesn’t matter much in this module. The second and third modules, however, are basic introductions to various kinds of engineering; in these two, you could pick, for example, mechanical engineering and computer science, and (assuming you got them) you would get to learn about those things from related professors.

FWIW, I enjoyed Professor Koutsoukos’s Module I.

ES 140 is one of the easiest classes you will take as an engineer. The professor doesn’t really matter a whole lot because everyone generally covers the same information but I would recommend staying away from the foreign professors if you aren’t good with accents and such. If you’re looking for a recommendation, I had Chris Rowe and he’s one of the best professors in the engineering school in my opinion. Regardless of who you have it should be fun and you’ll get to meet lots of your fellow engineers.
