Introvert @ LAC

Could anyone speak on introverts’ experiences at small LACs?

Uncomfortable? Or great chance for growth?

I think both. Everyone says no where to hide at an LAC so students are forced to participate and that might make them uncomfortable but is an opportunity to grow.

I see the benefits of LACs, but personally like bigger schools.

I personally love small LACs. It really depends on the individual and the individual school. Each LAC has its own personality though each has a smattering of everything, from partying to academic rigor to professional training.

  • Some are dominated by Greek life: Union College in Schenectady and Lehigh and Dartmouth (the size of a LAC)
  • Some are studious but have great spirit: Mt. Holyoke, Bryn Mawr, and Wellesley
  • Some are happy arty places: Muhlenberg and Wesleyan
  • Some are arty and more pretentious: Vassar and Bard
  • Some are sporty and intellectual: Williams and Amherst
  • Some are hyperintellectual: Swarthmore and Reed
  • Some break the mold entirely: Olin; Hampshire; Bennington; Sarah Lawrence

Etc.

^^^ read the above over a few times and think about it. LACs are not all cut from the same cloth, you really need to understand the ones you are considering.

Since you are an athlete (track / cross country), you should fit in at an LAC as you will have an instant group of friends.

Track is cool!

It might be fun to look for colleges / small unis that have track as a club sport. That’s a great idea! Many colleges also have nature preserve or other running trails.

how would you describe Pomona and CMC?

^ @Dustyfeathers

Btw thanks everyone else for ur input:)

How about in an academic setting? I am not too concerned w fitting in socially actually

How would you describe Gettysburg College?

Washington and Lee University as well.

Academically, Pomona is a general liberal arts school, while CMC has a pre-professional flavor, with more business-adjacent courses even though it does not have an actual business major.
