I know that in general the best Ibanks and opportunities are in NY but who are the best of the rest? So in other big cities outside NY (Chicago, DC, Boston, LA...) what banks are there? What kind of job/internship oportunites are there? Would it be easier to get a job/internship at one of the other offices? Or if you go to a college in one of those areas an internship at that office than in NY???

do banks recruit for their offices outside NY at the same schools as for the NY office? or schools closer to that office?

there are regional offices and boutiques in a lot of different places. mostly in metros like LA, chcago, and DC, and also houston. i think it would be just as hard getting a job at a regional office b/c there is generally less banking activity in those regions. just curious... why do you want to do i banking?

well dosn't everybody want to do it for the money? but it does sound interesting too. I am moreso just curious about differnt opportunites...not nessicarly sure i want to do ibanking.

It's just as hard for bulge bracket. Goldman Sachs, Morgan stanley, Citgroup, they all have offices in Chicago, it's just as hard to get in those, and there isn't much differene from being in New York. The smaller boutiques are about the same as the botiques in New York.

When you go to less financial heavy cities, such as LA Denver Houston, etc there are smaller botiques, that will be easier to get into.

what about BBs in "less financial citys" is it just as hard to get into those? do they recruit at the same schools? or would you have a better chance because your already in that area? ie. going to a school in Miami and trying to get an internship at a BB in Miami? Do any of the BBs have school year internship/part time programs?
