<p>I was invited for a campus "visitation event". The email didn't mention an interview but it did say that I would have the opportunity to meet with faculty. Is this an "interview" or recruitment visit? I want to gauge my chances of being admitted (because I'm too impatient to wait for a formal response).</p>
<p>This is with regard to a PhD program by the way.</p>
<p>If you have not yet been admitted, then it is an interview. They want to see if you are serious enough to go to the visit and then if you are the kind of student they are interested in admitting (probably with support). As a secondary function, you will be able to see if the program is the right one for you.</p>
<p>It’s probably an interview. “Meeting with faculty” is the code for getting interviewed.</p>
