Hi everyone I am planning on attending Law School. I am majoring in Philosophy, and minoring in biology. I would like to be a IP/Patent attorney, I have heard having a background in science is a must for IP. So my question is, is minoring in biology enough of a background?

Law firms are drooling for people with a PhD in a science, or even an MD, who are willing to go to law school for IP. I don’t think a minor is enough unless you put in a lot of work to learn more about the specific area you are interested in.

A minor in biology is not sufficient to qualify to take the USPTO exam.

Any degree in biology less than a Ph.D will not make you competitive for a position as an IP attorney
