Hello all!
My parents have given me the choice of either purchasing an iPad or using traditional textbooks this year. It will be my senior year of high school. My course schedule isn't too rigorous. I would love to use an iPad, but I'm hesitant. Will all my textbooks be available on it? Does anyone have experience with high school and iPads? I'm sure taking it with me to college would be good too.

You might want to check out the prices of the books. I know in some cases that it is cheaper to buy a used textbook than a digital copy. Plus, you could sell your old textbooks back to a book store. But if you’re not fond of used books, you may prefer the iPad

No it is stupid to buy books on an iPad. You would be crazy to spend close to 200 bucks for a digital copy of something. And most are not available. Their are other methods to get the textbooks on there for free, but I will not specify these on an open forum. PM if u want to know. I use the real textbooks, iPad ones are good for on the go, but they are not very practical. If you want to carry not as much stuff, iPad will suit you, however I prefer it as a luxury, not my main copy.

Ctrl-F

^^^^^ My cousin had a textbook online, or rather his teacher told the class where they can find a .PDF of the textbook, and this made homework and studying a lot easier for him. Something I never thought of, but finding every location of a word or
group of words instantly can be useful (of course that is for PCs, but if you have an e-book I believe you can view it on a computer too?)

If you like to write and take notes in textbooks, then they might be a better bet, while you will be able to maneuver more easily with e-books since you won’t have the heavy ones (which can be a reason for you to forget to bring them somewhere since you wouldn’t normally carry that burden).

Anyways, there are benefits to both, so the right choice is the option that you think you can use the best/most effectively : ).

Maybe it’s just me, but I find ebooks really hard to read and concentrate on.
But then, I’m a technology jinx so…
