My buddy got a full scholarship from Univ. of Maryland. I heard he gets iPhone as well, all paid for, if he decides to accept? (Is this true?)</p>

<p>yeah this is true, Banneker Key scholars get everything paid for, gaurenteed housing, book money, and an iphone or itouch (your choice)! (some only get like half tuition though).
This is a very nice award, I only turned it down bc of Harvard</p>

<p>that is really amusing, I remember that Duke gave out free I-pods to all incoming freshmen on year. Hopefully they do something like that again, only with an i-touch :-). Its really interesting how colleges are trying to attract students to come to their schools.</p>
<p>I think it’s not worth it because they’re simply bribing you with basically 300 dollars when Harvard is essentially worth a lot more just to be accepted in. Am I right or what? (My mom thinks Im wrong. I dont see why though)</p>

<p>I applied to the U of Missouri, and their journalism school requires that all of their incoming students have a laptop and either an ipod touch or iphone. The ipod touch comes free with the purchase of a laptop from them. Many schools are requiring this new technology.</p>
<p>I’m sure your buddy does get an iphone, but does the school pay for the monthly plan? I have one, and the cost of it is 30$ a month + your regular phone plan PLUS whatever texting plan you want.</p>
