I’m knee-deep in my freshman year of college, and although I was determined to make at least a 3.8 my first semester (I am so desperate to get out of this school), it looks like I might be getting a B or two this year.
I would say that I have pretty solid ECs but my GPA concerns me. What do you think?

Probably depends somewhat on the school you are currently enrolled in-- how rigorous is it? what is its reputation in term of grade inflation/deflation? A 3.65 could be seen as very strong coming from a college known for tough grading standards … and very questionable if it was coming from a college that is considered much less rigorous than Barnard.

I’d rather not name the school, but it is notorious for brutal grading. I think the average GPA is set at about 3.1.

I would say it’s sufficiently rigorous.
I don’t mean to insult your decision to transfer, but why do you want to leave Johns Hopkins for Barnard?

[Transfer Students | Barnard College](http://barnard.edu/admissions/transfer-students)

You’re above the average GPA of admitted transfer applicants, so I’d say it’s competitive.

I am in the same boat! 3.74, but I want to get out! what’s the average GPA for accepted transfer students?
