Is ACT okay?

Hi, I'll be applying to MIT this year, and I was wondering if sending in the ACT scores would be okay. I know that MIT accepts both the SAT and the ACT, but why does everyone send SAT scores instead of ACT?

Also, if it okay to send in only the ACT, what score do you think would be around the range for MIT? Thanks for taking your time to read this. Please don't hesitate to reply. :)

More people take the SAT's overall, so more SAT score reports are sent. ACT scores that are 30+ should be fine (although 32 is usually a common score that I see from the big schools).

Q. Do you prefer the SAT or the ACT?

A. We honestly have no preference. If you submit both, we will use whichever scores that makes you look best.

Thank you.

I know that MIT doesn't prefer SAT or ACT and uses the best score, but it just seems that the class of 2010 sent in more SAT scores than the ACT. So I was starting to question if ACT is useful for colleges or not. Thanks again! :)

Visali,

Admissions offices have charts that convert ACT scores to SAT equivalents so it is not a problem.
