Hi,
The government is cutting massive amounts of money from defense. I would love to work for boeing when I get out of college in 4-6 years (Depending on if I get my masters right away). Is Aerospace Engineering not a good choice since companies won't have as many contracts so they won't be hiring? I have always wanted to be an Aerospace engineer.
Should I still pursue it?
Thanks!

Aerospace is moving to be more and more of a private industry in many respects. Companies like Space-X are privatizing space travel, which was once solely a government operation, and companies like Boeing make most of their money off of commercial airliners such as the Dreamliner. Additionally, no matter how many cuts there are, until there is a unified world government, there will never cease to be a need for defense spending and defense contractors.

You are an aerospace graduate student, correct? Do you have any special insight as to how successful privatizing space travel will be? Do you think that progress on this front has been limited by demand for space travel or by technical difficulties (aka nature says that space travel will probably always be expensive)? Sorry about all of the questions, but I’m curious about this and I wonder if you have any insights.
