I really like snakes, and I’ve been thinking of maybe making my main CA essay about how if I were a snake, I’d be a certain species. I’d then compare various behaviors of that species to things that I do and that I care about. Is that too weird?
Sounds like it could be a cool idea if well written.

…remembering that “well written” means that the snake element is almost incidental: the focus should be on you, with the snake element an interesting choice of analogy. Be careful not to overstretch the analogy: choose the 2-3 traits about you that you think are the most important from the point of view of the AO, and focus on those- more is not necessarily better!

Is this for now, or next year? It could be interesting but it really depends on your skills. If for next year, I think it’s too early to write it now. Sit on the idea and see if you still like it come next summer.
If it’s for now, get going. Many students will write repeated drafts. It can take many, many hours to complete a personal statement that you’re happy with.
I like it, but then again, I also like snakes, so I’m biased.
Like everybody else has said - it can be a great idea, so long as you make it about you, not about snakes.
So you don’t want to write an essay from the point of view of the snake. That would be a great essay, but NOT a great college application essay.
