I feel "eh" about it. I feel bad for leaving my family, and I feel bad for wasting money on college. I'm the exact opposite, I'm dreading college, and it's not even because of the classes. Everyone on the FB for my school is like "I can't wait to meet you guys!", so I feel kind of bad that I'm not excited. It's not my first choice university, but it is a school that I was excited to go to, since I stressed over the application, and it's in a city that I've wanted to go to college in since practically middle school.

Don’t feel bad about leaving your family. You have to do it at some point- and if you picked a good college, you’re not wasting money either.

I think you will grow to like it. My college years have been an absolute blast. So, so much better than high school.

The summer before freshman year, I was very nervous. I planned to live with my mom and be a stereotypical “commuter student”. Two months before the start of school, my mom moved a hour away and wanted me to live in the dorms.

At first I thought that I was going to hate college and it was going to be just like a glorified high school. I quickly got used to all the changes and I grew to love college! I wind up making a lot of friends and enjoying every second. Of course, there were some sucky parts, but it gets better.

Now in seven days I move back to school and I am very excited. This year I have a work study job as a baristo in our campus coffee house and I am starting nursing school. My goal this year is to be more active in my campus, something which I didn’t really do freshman year.

You’ll quickly adjust to all the changes. It takes a semester or so to feel comfortable with yourself and your environment. Freshman year flies by and you’ll regret not enjoying it more. Luckily, everything gets even better after freshman year!

Oh and don’t feel bad about leaving your family. You are becoming an adult and, sooner or later, you will have to move out. College is a transition period and gives you a chance to adjust to all the changes. Even though it seems very frightening to be on your own, it’s really not that bad and your college is there to help you with the change.

Also, don’t think of college as a waste of money. Yes, you can get into large amounts of debt if you’re not smart. The money you are spending as an investment. Although, be mindful and not put yourself in a bad situation. College is a good investment in your future, but make good decisions, enjoy your time in school, and be a dedicated student.

I’m not really excited either. I have no idea how I’m going to buy a laptop and then there’s a chance I’m not going to get the classes I want. I’m a transfer so I really can’t waste time taking classes I don’t need.
