Is Greek Life pretty big at ASU?

Is it the most dominant form of social life? Or do ASU students usually go to house/dorm parties or bars/clubs???

Yea, ASU is getting rid of frat row, but there still will be fraternities. Greek life is actually pretty small at ASU, in proportion to its size and in comparison to other universities, like UofA.

But frats are DEFINITELY not the dominant form of social life, by far!

You will find parties/hangout spots anywhere, and I mean ANYWHERE. Obviously there will be some crackdowns by police in certain areas, but places like Mill Ave. have an intense nightlife. And there is no college anywhere that doesn't have dorm and house parties.

No need to worry, your huge list for a socially acceptable universities will not be tarnished by ASU.

Thanks...that's good to know.

So how is Tempe as a city? What other cities would you compare it to? Las Vegas? Los Angeles?

No, I wouldn't compare it to those cities.

It is actually more of a college town than anything, and it isn't as big as those cities, obviously. You are going to find a huge amount of students vs. other ages, where LA and Las Vegas probably have different age groups.

The thing I like about Tempe though, is that it is so close to other cities, that you can find anything you like. Scottsdale, Mesa, Glendale, Flagstaff, Phoenix, are all within easy reaches, and each offer a different experience.

Tempe has got everything though...bars, clubs, movie theatres, plenty of restaurants, Gammage Auditorium (where I've seen over 50 musicals...we have season tickets), museums, sports games, etc.

Personally, it is the perfect place. Obviously people aren't writing songs about it, but it offers so much to every person.

the traditional "frat row" at ASU has pretty much been systemactically destroyed over the past decade or so by the University. They close down the houses and reclaim the property for other building uses. Frats/soroities either have to move into new dormlike complexes (Adelphi) or move off campus altogether.
Christalena is right..the Greek presence at ASU is minor for a school its size...but its there if you want it I guess.

I live in Phoenix and Tempe is not a very nice area. Hot as hell in the summer, ugly in the winter.

It's a concrete jungle with old depressing buildings. ASU itself is one of the nastiest college campuses in the entire world.

Go elsewhere, ASU is a dump.

^^^ I agree
the asu campus looks like ****
go to u of a if anywhere in Arizona
the frat scene dominates, and they throw sick parties that asu cant even come close to matching
ask anyone who knows about both schools
as playboy said in the 2009 rankings when U of A was number 6 on the list
“The zona school that gets most of the love is Arizona State, though Tempe is a great place to spend a weekend, 4 years are better spent in Tucson”
The better college experience can be found at U of A
Plus Wildcat basketball is sick and gives the student body even more of a reason to party
