Not sure if this is the right section to post under, but…
Well, I was enrolled at Union College for only one semester and did AWFUL.
My grades were as follows:
Calculus I: C-
Intro to Engineering: C+
Intro to Global Politics: F
I know it isn't a good excuse to some people, but I really did not enjoy the school or the environment and I had a lot of trouble focusing there, so I think that is why I didn't perform well. Obviously I did terrible, I transferred to a local community college and plan to improve my GPA a lot, but I have noticed an increase in work ethic. I plan to get all A's this semester.
Although my grades don't reflect any aptitude in engineering. Do you think I could end up rallying back and getting a degree in it? (Pretty much asking if a C- in Calc I makes engineering seem impossible) I might retake Calc I to better understand the concepts and get a better grade in it. After finishing a few semesters at community college, what colleges should I work on applying to if I have a GPA of around 3.5 or 3.6?
Thank you, all feedback and criticism is welcome.
It’s really too early to give a judgment call. See how this semester goes before making any big decisions.
@bodangles Thank you, I know. I have just been so worried since pretty much flunking out of college. I really want to perform to my full potential and I just feel like I messed up big time.
See if you do well in calc 1 then come back here
If you can’t even do well in calc 1, then engineering might not be for ya
^ That was pretty dang condescending, don’t you think? “Even” calc 1 represents a difficult class at the university level.
@philbegas I respect the input, thank you. @bodangles yeah, but it’s a fair claim. I didn’t take calculus in high school and I had a professor with a 1.6 on ratemyprofessor. I know these excuses don’t mean much, but a lot of people struggled in my class. I think when I retake the class at community college, I’ll get an A.
OP said criticism is welcome so I tried to be honest!
I didn’t say OP is dumb or anything rude like that. For engineering you have to take complicated math and if you’re bad at it, it might not be for you. That being said I understand the struggle I used to have a 1.105 gpa until I re took my failed classes. I also waited until after high school to take calc.
