Is the fact that South Carolina is notorious for having crappy schools actually going to help me out (my school is not the SC norm i have to add tho)?

Im applying to Stanford, Cornell, Northwestern and some safeties i gotta think there arent the hordes of people applying to these schools from from SC that there are from Cali or NY, so is this going to provide some sort of "minority" advantage even though im white?

Well, most schools do like to advertise that they have students from all 50 states--so from the point of view of what you've described--yes, you do get a small advantage.

What if you are from the standard SC crapschool? Does it help if you did well on tests (AP, SAT etc) but come from a pretty bad school. Probably 20% of my school goes to college(including the local tech school). I too am looking at far-away schools(NY, MA) and was hoping someone could answer this.
