This is a wildly inaccurate description of a BSc.
A BSc (Bachelor of Science degree) is given by a specific university, in a specific subject, to a student who has completed all of the requirements specificed by the university. So, whether in the US or the UK, to get (for example) a BSc in Biology from University of Iowa or University College London or any other university you:
- apply to the university, then if you are accepted you
- take the required courses (whether that takes 4 years as is typical in the US, or 3 years as is common in UK).
- If you get the required grades you graduate and are awarded your BSc diploma.
How “good” the BSc is depends on several factors, including your grades, the academic rigor of the university, and your reason for getting the BSc.
The universities in the UK- and the US!- that offer BSc degrees range from mediocre to some of the best in the world.
