Is Calculus necessary for admission to Top Schools?

I was wondering, in general, is Calculus a class a person needs to take in order to be admitted to some of the top schools in the country? I'm talking Ivies and Ivy equivalent, as well as some of the public Ivies.

I bring up the question because I have a scheduling conflict for my senior year schedule. Originally, I had signed up for Calculus AB, but now it seems I won't be able to take the class. I do want to go to a top level school, and am not sure if either a) not taking a math class senior year or b) taking Statistics AP instead will hurt my chances when it comes to admissions for top colleges.

calculus is not that important - i mean depending on what u wana major in. Take AP stats.. My cousin is going to Harvard and she took AP stats.

Although it would help, as long as your grades, standardized tests, etc are solid you should not worry.

Yeah I agree with sxsepu, if you don't take Calc Ap you should score high enough on the standardized tests to show that you are capapble

It's important if your major involves a lot of calculus. A friend of mine got rejected by the Illinois Institute of Technology because he never took calculus, and his stats were significantly better than IIT's averages. Engineering major, I don't know what field.

Well, let's say then that my GPA isn't that great, my SATs aren't amazing either, but I plan to be an English major.

SATII Math is 700, too.

If you're an english major, not taking calculus shouldn't hurt you.
