Is Chemical Engineering a viable major for an eventual career in pharmacology?

/ Biochemical engineering (for schools where it is applicable) / with Biochemistry minor. My dream job is to discover and synthesize drugs and research their function and effect on human cells and human behavior. Northeastern University’s interdisciplinary degree in Chemical E and Biochem in particular really caught my eye.
I’m just wondering if the major would be unnecessarily difficult for a seemingly uncommon field to follow up on with it in? I’m confident in my ability in it, (easier said than done I know, but I really do) as I’m strong in chemistry, biology and maths. I’ve heard a lot of people talking about Chem E majors going into pharmacy but not necessarily pharmacology, though this just might be due to the common misconception of the two fields being one in the same.
