Is Communications A Useless Major?

Would I have trouble getting a decent salary after college?

My friends are combining it with something else (double major in finance/business/economics and communications). Honestly, I kind of roll my eyes when someone is just majoring in communications, this probably is wrong as I don't know much about the rigor of the major. I do know that mainly athletes (I go to an ACC school) major in it.

No, it isn't a useless major. Let's be real. If you want above a 3.0 and you're looking at getting internships, you'll have no problem. Internships lead to jobs after college. Plus, since there's no set major to get into law school, this is one of the best routes to take. Anyone who tells you differently is a liar.

I'm just a worried liberal arts student who is not really good at anything, especially the majors where it is guaranteed you make $$$.
I can forget about technology, math and the sciences. I don't think that I'll end up a lawyer anyway because it is far too competitive. I've read a CC thread about parents whom are lawyers that said the career is boring and stressful.

Also, making less money than my parents = Fail
Not to mention embarrassing and a waste of tuition. I might as well drop out and become a plumber. I'm not talking about the starting salary, but the highest salary I may get throughout my career.
I do not want to be the black sheep amongst my successful family either. All this pressure is making me feel stuck.

I'm a liberal arts student too, and I am just majoring in History, because that is what I am interested in. Do English, Philosophy, Classics, History, or a foreign language. Whatever you enjoy doing.

maybe look into business, thats a fairly general major that will make decent money and you can go a lot of places with.

It can be, there are so many communications majors that the pool is diluted. If you are really talented and have had interships and have great recs you should be able to find something. Since the major isn't a hard skill major it may be harder depending on your qualifications.
